About the Book

Anna is like a hijacked vehicle being driven by a reckless driver, taking her for a joyride then abandoning her with an empty tank, no memories, no clues and no dreams to help her navigate her way back to herself. The saying that ‘what we don’t know, can’t hurt us’, is far from accurate. If the truth sets us free, then what do secrets do? Our greatest fear is to lose everything as we reveal the truth, however, secrets only ensure that we lose it all. It is said that you need to lose yourself in order to find yourself. To let go of what is not real about you, so only the real can remain.

Anna's personal journey towards self discovery and uncovering the truth, takes her on a dark and convoluted path, doing the unimaginable, in an attempt to reconcile her splintered identity. Religion and abstinence are replaced by drugs, alcohol, sex and murder as an insatiable feral energy takes her hostage.

What delineates good people from bad people? It is not always clear who is the aggressor and who is the victim.

About the Author

Maddalena Di Gregorio

Born in Italy. My parents immigrated from a small town in Southern Italy to Montreal, I was an 18 month old baby eager to substitute crawling with walking. A passenger ship crossing the Atlantic in the month of January, is not conducive to child safety. Not exactly a pleasure trip. Life had already presented me with my first challenge. It was a sign of things to come. My life has not been easy, far from it, yet it's no ground for complaints, since I know that I have unearthed the kind of richness in life that is only possible if one is willing to go deep, get down and dirty, get to the roots in order to understand. Gardening is one of my passions.

My sisters were born in Montreal and are still there along with their children and soon to come grandchildren. I on the other hand never stopped moving. Maybe it was that long voyage across the ocean that shaped my life. Vancouver, Toronto, Tuscany, Milan, Amsterdam. I make a living in Film & Television as a producer, filmmaker and/or editor. In my spare time I am an artist anything that gets my hands dirty works for me and I love to write.
